VACUUM PUMP
PRINCIPLES OF
OPERATION
Single Stage TD
Pumps
·
Used primarily for material transport applications. Solid materials
that are entrained in the vacuum flow pass through the pump.
· Compressed air is forced
through the annular orifice.
· Rapid expansion results in
the creation of vacuum.
· Vacuum creates flow
directly through the pump.
Single Stage AV
Pumps
·
Used primarily for evacuating and material handling applications.
· Compressed air is forced
through a small circular orifice.
· Rapid expansion creates
low pressure in the vacuum chamber.
· Compressed air and vacuum
flow are exhausted.
Multistage Pumps
· Initially both flapper
valves are open.
· Vacuum is created in all
three chambers and initial vacuum flow rates are high.
·
When vacuum level in manifold reaches 3-5"Hg, the flapper valve closes off the third
chamber.
· Vacuum flow rates are
reduced.
·
When vacuum level in manifold reaches about 10"Hg, both flapper valves close and
pump reaches its ultimate vacuum level operating as a Single Stage pump.
